Purpose of the Position:
The RN performs as a professional nurse in the area of patient care, triage, and education, working under the supervision of the clinic physician/Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant and the Clinic manager.
The RN utilizes the nursing process (assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation) in all patient encounters, and possesses the ability to interact, assess, and treat all ages (infant, children, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
) Location:
Clinic location is flexible, and based on the needs of the candidate.
RN would be welcome out of our Whitewater clinic or our Watertown clinic.
Hours are flexible to consider half days or full days.
Essential Duties:
Rooms patients and reviews health history, addresses preventative maintenance issues as related to the neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient.
Accurately collects and records data as appropriate at the patient contact and requirements of Uniform Data System and HRSA.
Performs or helps the team to coordinate the orderly and efficient flow of patients.
Performs triage duties relating to telephone and direct patient care by obtaining appropriate information with attention to detail and accuracy.
Makes nursing assessment utilizing, theory, judgement, and patient information.
Implements appropriate care using nursing assessment and or provider preferences.
Establishes teaching protocols for patient education, family counseling, general public information, and staff.
Possesses the ability to perform educational assessment and patient/family teaching whenever needed and is able to communicate instructions to patients/families that are clear and concise.
Instructions are geared to the level of a neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and/or geriatric patient's level of understanding.
Follows through with comprehensive documentation.
Possesses a working knowledge of all medical procedures/exams and specialized equipment utilized within all RRCC clinics as it relates to the specific specialty of the office.
Will be accountable in complying with Universal Protocol policies.
Has the ability to utilize protective devices as needed to maintain integrity of medical treatments as necessary.
Responsible for executing scheduled cleaning/maintenance of equipment, and has knowledge of medical equipment repair processes.
Able to handle decontamination and sterilization requirements of all clinic equipment.
Possesses knowledge of tests and procedures as they relate to specific specialties.
Recognizes significant values and works with the provider to notify the patient of results and arrange for follow up activities.
Assists with appointment scheduling of office visits/referrals/diagnostic testing.
Responsible for working with the pre-authorization department and or insurance companies to initiate referrals and obtain approvals, pre-certifications, and prior authorizations for medical care and treatment.
Administers medication by all routes (including intravenous as necessary) as ordered by the provider.
Demonstrates and understands administration techniques.
Recognizes the implications of dosages, interactions, side effects, adverse effects, routes of administration of drugs as they apply to individual patients.
Adheres to all Rock River Community Clinic Medication policies.
Communicates and/or completes provider orders to outside sources (i.
e.
pharmacy, other clinics, hospital, nursing homes, etc.
) Also assists in the completion of various medical forms (i.
e.
RTW, school forms, DOT, worker's compensation, etc.
) Conducts proper biohazard waste disposal and follows components of the Bloodborne Pathogen Policy.
Ensures all nurse rendered services are captured and completion of ABN forms as appropriate and needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Completes department-specific orientation and annual competencies for this position.
