Machine Operator

POSITION SUMMARY

Sets up, programs, operates, edits all levels of work on the CNC lathes and mills to machine metallic and nonmetallic work pieces

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Completes program folders with required information. Notes other information related to job problems and performance
  • Works with appropriate personnel in production control, engineering, inspection, supervisors and other employees to resolve job related problems such as tooling, fixtures, chucking, and program and blueprint specifications.
  • Verifies conformance of work piece to engineering and manufacturing specifications.
  • Studies manufacturing orders and organizes materials and tools for next run during automatic controlled cycles to shorten changeover time.
  • Lifts work piece manually or with hoist, and positions and secures work piece in chuck or fixture, or mounts between centers.
  • Removes burrs, sharp edges and clean parts
  • Stamps identifying number on parts as instructed.
  • Study program, blueprints, manufacturing drawings, tool sheets and manufacturing orders to verify they are correct and fill out proper paperwork when changes are necessary.
  • Accomplish work in an organized, timely manner producing necessary results in spite of unforeseen changes; communicate effectively and alert team members and supervision if deadlines are in jeopardy; maintain high ethical and quality standards; and correct your own errors; and, regularly produce accurate, thorough, professional work.
  • Additionally, recommend continuous improvement ideas and assist in implementation as required; take personal responsibility for service excellence, sustainability and safe working practices; and, understand and adhere to our Principles & Values and all company policies and procedures.

JOB KNOWLEDGE/SKILLSAND ABILITIES

  • Complex blueprint reading skills to determine relevant information for CNC lathe operations.
  • Proficient tape proofing programs and related tasks such as using machine graphics to find program errors and other potential problems.
  • Proficient mounting and boring jaws, loading parts, loading fixture, loading and using tail-stock and steady rest.
  • Proficient identifying, mounting and setting offsets for all tooling used.
  • Knowledge of cutting inserts for turning, drilling, boring, threading, grooving and profiling.
  • Knowledge of cutting tools for turning, drilling, boring, threading, grooving, and profiling.
  • Skillful machining ferrous and non-ferrous bar stock and castings ranging in hardness from stock material to heat treated parts.
  • Capable using required CNC control functions such as up and down load of programs, setting work and tool offsets, adjusting work and tool offsets, dry run of programs, using graphics functions, setting limit parameters, restarting program using block numbers and internal moves, editing and MDI functions.
  • Understand and use all relevant control panel equipment such as spindle and feed override, pulse handle, axis and spindle job buttons, optional stop, single block, etc.
  • Proficient at using micrometers, dial calipers, height gauge, shop gauges, depth gauges and dial indicators to indicate parts and verify dimensions of work piece.
  • Proficient running CNC lathes and mills.
  • Good math skills.
  • Must be able to maintain tolerance and finishes to engineering and manufacturing specifications.
  • Knowledge of machining tools

PROFESSIONAL WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • 2 years CNC machining

EDUCATIONAL AND/ORTRAINING REQUIREMENT:

  • High SchoolDiploma

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
